replacing piston rings

I have heard that you can't hone these Ls1's.What would you guys reccomend I do if I want to freshen up my motor?It is not burning oil or anything but I have alot of miles on her and I am going to start modding more so I am thinking of freshening everything up while it is apart.Thanks.JER

When I had my rings changed the tuner honed the cylinders and installed the new rings and bearings and bolts with a double row timing chain. No problems here.

Honing is ok but boring is out of the question. Please somebody correct me if I'm wrong but I think the most GM recommends that can be removed from the cylinder walls is .004
