They arrived this afternoon. Thanks to Carmen at The Vette Doctors for a decent price. Thanks also to George at Kooks for hooking me up. Anyway I started removing existing TPIS headers at 5:50 this evening, answered a few phone calls, and had dinner. Then went and set in place the new passenger side Kooks header. Time was 8:10 when I quit. Total time working alone with jack stands and hand tools and dinner break was........2 hours and 20 minutes. I heard these things were a pain to put in but in fact just the opposite is true. Now that said, I have not tried to install the drivers side yet. That will wait until tomorrow evening. Bob

sounds like it's goin good. just saw your post on my old install thread i did a year ago. didn't think it was still in circulation. Install finished well and after a year, feel the Kooks were a great mod... great quality, feel the power (SOTP), sounds great and trouble free (no leaks and such).
i admit i found the driver's side to be the harder for me. my advice on the driver side is if all else fails... a good 2x3 should do it
they fit great, the guys that have a hard w/installing these arent use to workin on cars ,I found them a pretty straightforward install,,also easier if you got the tools, like in the pic
Boy is this thing loud. Finished up the install today, worst part of the job was having to get my hands between the frame rail and the headers to tie up the O2 wires. I was running a very odd set-up before so the car was fairly tame. Well let me tell ya, everyone will know i'm coming now. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being most difficult, this is a 5. Nice easy relaxing home done mod. Very pleased at the moment but still choking from the smoke coming from these things. Bob
Congratulations. The Kooks headers are definitely an exceptional header system. And, it is simply gratifying to know that you were able to install them yourself. Great Job!
The 1 7/8 ones are harder. I know, I've don a bunch. Still worth it , though!
I'm sure the 1 7/8 would be harder. The posts all said beat them in, tight fit, etc. I did not have that Placed them in where I thought they should be, jacked the motor and both sides (one at a time of course) litterally dropped in place on their own. Thanks for the guy's. Hopefully i'll get to drive a little Friday.
