Im wondering if i were just to swap my stock LS1 heads for a set of LS6 heads would that yield any more HP? If so how much has anyone tested this? Im in a big dilema if i should do the LS6 heads when i do my cam swap. Are they worth it or just install the cam with the stock LS1 heads?? thanks
I have done some thinking on this too, and from what I have read so far, the difference in HP would not be worth the extra money, but that is JMO. I am sure the more technical experts will jump in.
I spoke with a forum sponsor yesterday about the difference between their Stage 2 heads and LS6 heads. I liked the idea of staying with stock GM heads with better springs but was informed that the Stage 2 heads will outperform the LS6 heads by a considerable margin. By the time i would have installed new springs and freshened up the heads I would have spent more than the Stage 2 heads complete. Guess which way I'm going?
The ZO6 heads are a better choice for HP but the cost factor is high versus a set of new custom heads. I just got a set of stage 2.5 heads from T.E.A. The core charge for my LS6 castings was 700 dollars. I kept the LS6 heads for my son to put on his ride.
