I get a loud noise coming from the LH headlight actuator when I turn off my headlights. Is there an adjustment for this or is the actuator bad ???
Thanks in advance!!!!
Rob
Got my metal gears from Rodney Dickman's. Fast delivery and very helpful.
Works fine ever since.
Takes some time to install but instructions are good.
I went slowly and life is A/OK in headlightland.

Yup, same thing here and the brass gear is the way to go.

Go to http://www.rodneydickman.com/retail.html, click on the "Electrical" tab at the top, scroll down to "Headlight -- Other Vehicle and click on the " 97+ C5 Corvette Brass Headlight Gears" link. Scroll down, select quantity and then click "Add to cart" link.
You should try spraying the headlight hinges with silicone lube first.
Stopped the horrid noise on mine, and haven't had a headlight squeak or peep since.
Confirm?? Headlight clicking after going completely closed
Team,
Not sure if I have the same issue or if it is the headlight moter gear.
When I turn on the lights, they pop up with no problem or noise. When I turn off the lights, they close with no problem, but after they are completely closed, the lift "autator" keeps spinning and make a loud clicking noise for about 15 seconds. Any suggestions?
If you don't want the expense of replacing the gears, try unbolting the linkage arm from the motor shaft, rotate the shaft by 180 degrees, then re-attach the arm. You'll then be using the teeth on the opposite side of the gear which will mostly have been previously unused.

This is what mine is doing- whats the fix? It wouldnt open at first. I massaged the wiring and the WD40 on all moving parts. It has been stored for 8 years. So I expected some gremlins! Now opens but closes with a spinning for 15 secs....

Yep, you've got the bad gear problem. The nylon gears go bad and the teeth get broken. So you need a brass gear replacement. Here's the link: http://my.execpc.com/~rodney1/vettegears/index.htm Not a hard job, takes about 45 min or so per side. Instructions on site as well.
