Last month did AFR 205's, G5-X2 on a 112. The results were very disappointing! Did all the work myself including the fly-cutting, and HPE did the final tune. Guys the car smells very rich at idle and will not run below 1800 RPM, car surges and buck in all gears. Is this characteristic of this camshaft or is it the TUNE? Car only made 410rwhp through stock cats, MAF sensor, and throttle body. What happen, I was expecting more? By the way it is a MN6.
I have the G5X3 on 112 and I get some surging if I lug it around but its very drivable without any major issues and since its bigger than the X2 I would think you might have a tunning issue.
Since your running cats I wouldn't think you shouldn't smell much if anything, I'm catless and mine only stinks if I'm sitting still a long time like in a drivethru.
Get the tune. EnglandGreen did his own work and the car was very undriveable. He got the tune and the car is great to drive now and he picked up another 27RWHP.
It will run a bit crappy on the low side with the stock tune. Have the car tuned and you will see that is a very streetable cam. I have the G5X3 in my own car ind its very docile

Must be because I didn't use there cam. HPE said "This is a characteristic of LG X2 camshaft, LIVE WITH IT!"
I am sorry but HPE did a horrible tune on your car if you have an idle of 1800 RPM . Second them saying that this is the characteristic of an X2 cam is total BS . I have an X2 cam with AFR heads in my car and I am very street able. I idle at 850 rpm and the car runs great. I would take it to a tuner that knows how to tune a cam as big as a X2, because HPE obviously does not know how.
I have the G5X2-112, idles @ 950 with no real problems. I was going to buy the AFR 205's and talked to Matthew & Bobby at LG both said flycutting wasn't necessary with 66cc or 64cc heads...what cc did you buy? A good tune woke mine up

That is your tune!!!
234/240 598/608 114LSA in a A4 with stock TC and TALL 2.73 gears.
Before the tune - It was a nightmare. Bucked, surged, no hot start, stalled, convulsions..... a long list of
The tune makes my car drive like stock (almost). Zero bucking, no surging, no convulsions, no run on, it hot starts, idles in gear at a light with the A/C on..
It's all in the tune. Slowhawk of Dez Racing in Mass. did an awesome tuning job on my car and I highly recommend him.

You said "Stock Cats"? so what headers do you have? Take it on a drive up here to Dallas and we will fix you right up. A G5X-2, installed correctly is a dream.
Seriously, give me a call. If you are in Houston, we are in Dallas, and we can help.
