I've heard it was built for 350 but don't quote me. I've also heard guys running over 400 to the rear wheels w/o problems.
Anyone else have specifics on this topic?

I recently read a GM article that said the stock A4 was rated at 360 hp. I have 450 hp at the crank and had to rebuild my stock A4 within 60 days of adding the hp. 3-4 gears were slipping badly; burned A4 tranny fluid. Got my tranny rebuilt with heavier innards. Cost me a bundle. Been eating pnut btr sandwiches ever since

340-360 somewhere threabouts. Anything more than headers and a mild cam and your asking for trouble. Rodney has a great reputation on this Forum board for rebuiding and making the stock trans bullit proof for a reasonable price...

I had a Magnusson supercharger and a stock A4 tranny for a little over a year with no problems.
BTW trannies are rated for the amount of torque they can handle.
