For a regular C5 (non Z06) what are a few of the best mods these cars benefit from? Do they benefit a LOT from exhaust work, or need intake work more?
I've got some bolt-ons that have up the rwhp on my C5 to 351; I forgot to cut up my credit card - so the next stop is long tube headers, hf cats, x pipe and drag radials. That should get me close to 400 rwhp which is pretty damn scarry.
The very first mods to my new ' 04 was to get frame savers and rocker rails from Andy at A & A Corvette Specialists.....best mods I ever did for protection of my Vette
i can't say that headers are a very cost effective initial mod, but they are good for later on if you do anything major.
depending on how much money you want to spend, some decent ported heads and a cam will really wake it up... but i guess exhaust and intake that everybody else is talking about is a good idea too, esp the intake.
Best bang for the buck is a cold air intake.... catback exhaust is basically a sound mod... LT headers are problably next on the list...if you don't want to do a cam now, get a tune from a tuner who will charge a reduced rate after your additional mods... a tune will help with CAI and LTs.... evntually you will want more mods even if you are doubtful now.....
What is a good sounding catback as well as very good performance for a vette? I am currently running the magnaflow X-pipe with the Borla straight pipes and i really dont like all the rasp it has. Any suggestions? thanks in advance.
My 99 ran a 109 mph ET with these mods. Corsa Indy catback and Corsa X-ipie, K&N FIPK, Nitto ZR tires, Corsa X-ipie, and a custome dyno tune. I was consistently .2-.3 quicker than my friend's Vararamed '04 hauling 150lbs more weight than he was too.
My vote is for a decent catback, x-pipe, CAI kit, and a decent tune.
Ive already added FLP LT headers and have a cam going in sometime in the next 2-3 weeks after I get the new clutch installed and broken in.
