Just ordered 175 degree thermostat. (Did not want to go all the way to 160). What are the recommended temps for fans turn on vs. stock with this thermostat? I understand that causing the fans to run significantly more than the GM design will cause them to burn out as they were not designed for more duty. Is there any way to program them to run when the ignition is not on to allow for cooling in the staging lanes?
Settings for stock with factory 195 thermostat
Fan 1 on/off @ 227f/218f
Fan2 on/off @ 235f/228f
Settings for 180 degree thermostat
Fan 1 on/off @ 194f/185f
Fan2 on/off @ 204f/195f
Settings for 160 degree thermostat
Fan 1 on/off @ 184/175
Fan 2 on/off @ 194/185
These settings are straight out of the hypertech programmer manual. They do not make a 175 thermostat. So no stats available sorry
I'm not sure where you heard that over using the fans will cause them to burn out. I've never known anyone to have a fan motor go out on these engines.
