Default White Face Guages Install

Hi everyone. How involved is it to install white face guages and trim rings in dash? I'm curious how long it will take? Thanks

I've had my cluster out quite a few times and I would say about two hours at most. The best directions I've found are at Vette Essentials for those who have never done it before.

The gauges are going to suck becuase you have to remove the needles... I removed them on my old truck and will NEVER do it again haha... major PITA

A good friend of mine wants to do this when we install his HUD. I know for a fact that most white face gauges suck in quality and removing needles on his car is the last thing on my mind right now

Ha! I'm supposed to be installing white face gages on my hubby's truck dash as we speak.
I'm going to make him remove the entire thing and bring it in the house.

He bought the gage covers that don't require removal of the needles. (off ebay)
I'll take some pics as I'm doing it.

I've gone in C5 gauge cluster quite a few times, my white gauges did not require removal of the needles. Although when I put gauges in my WS6 TA, I did have to remove the needles. So it just depends on the car.

It takes about two hours, just follow VE directions
http://www.vetteessentials.com/instr...zel_howto.html

To put in the white gauges there is another step where you remove the plastic plate (with the rings that the aluminum bezels go on) - you'll have to un-snap the black light holders and just look around the cluster, you'll figure it out - jus a bunch of screws and snaps. Do everything gently so you don't break any of the plastic snaps. I put the white gauges in as my first mod four years ago, and went back in last year to put in the bezels. When you get the cluster out, take it inside, sit on the couch and do the work on your coffee table.

And here's the finished product

Sweet Humy!!

I've been thinking about doing exactly the same thing.. (white faces and the Stainless Bezels) Question, how difficult or how easy are the needles to remove, replace?? I know it was not on your Vette that you did it...

I'm hoping to see many vendors at Mid-America's Fun Fest next month and have a look for myself at these mods on Vendor row.

However, the best reviews opinions are definately here... I just can't touch the parts!!

I bought and installed the white face gauges from LAPD (same company makes the ones sold by LPE). You do not remove the needles (big plus).
It will take 2-3 hours to do the install. There is an Excellent Bezel write up on LAPD ->http://www.thelapd.com/bezel.htm.

I read it and I mentioned it.. he said he DID take them off on another car... So the question was how hard was it on the OTHER CAR... I made an assumption that it might be a similar in PITA or not?? no biggie.. was just curious...

Oh you were asking about the WS6, the needles took a little precision to pop off, but went right back in place - I don't recall any measuring device to put them back in either

but I did that install in '99 or '00, so I don't recall the exact process (ended up trading the WS6 for my C5)
