Default Please help - My Heads Up Display is MIA!

HUD will not turn on. Are there any circuits, plugs or other gizmos inside the instrument cluster housing that would cause a properly connected and otherwise functional factory installed HUD to not turn on? The main connection from the back the cluster housing to the HUD seems to be fine. Is there a separate inline HUD fuse somewhere?
Thanks

[EDIT] Merged the two threads, MAJ Z06[EDIT]

Your subject line is a little misleading. I'm assuming you mean HUD (Head up Display) and not HID (High Intensity Discharge) which would be related to aftermarket fixed headlights.

Thanks for the Heads Up! My brain must have already been shut down for the night.

slim: Hate to tell you this, sounds like your radio man forgot to plug the H U D in when he put the cluster back in. You will have to take it appart again. There is a small pig tail that plugs into the top of the instrument cluster. He most likely didn't plug it in or,didn't get it in tight enough and it fell out when the cluster was tipped into position. YOUR h u d probably will give you false information when you get it working again, just cycle thru all the modes a couple of times and it will give you correct info. Bruce

thanks but that connector was plugged in and does not appear to be damaged. It's a little hard to check at the HUD end but definately is not unplugged or loose.

This may seem way too obvious but have you checked the brightness control to make sure it isn't in the off posistion?

Default HUD won't work - any ideas?

Sorry for the duplicate post but I can't seem to edit the title of or delete my previous post where I typoed HID for HUD throughout.

2000 C5 coupe with factory installed HUD. Has always worked fine. Friend pulled instrument cluster and took it apart while installing some stereo stuff. Now the HUD will not turn on. The flat cable that goes from the HUD to the top/rear of the cluster housing is connected and seems fine. Are there any other connectors INSIDE the instrument cluster that affect the HUD? Is there an external HUD fuse somewhere? Does the HUD get it's power via the cable connected to the instrument cluster or is there a separate power line running to the HUD?

Thanks.

Unfortunately, yes. I've tried all the instrument panel controls, sliders and ***** a gazillion times.
