Default What mods for $10,000!

Was gonna sell, but now gonna mod.

Any suggestions?
I checked West Coast Corvette- stage 4 package, they tell me I will get possible 420 to 430rwhp to the wheels, thats with long tubes, out the door for $10,500.
Any other full packages like that out there that you guys are running?
I would like minimum down time, one time in then done.

I want streetable and stealthy, but want to haul @ss when the time is right.

Thanks
Jeff

Nothing against West Coast Corvettes, because they are good peeps, but in my opinion, there are better deals out there to be had. It also depends on the route you want to take with your car. If going forced induction (FI) route, A&A Performance in Ca or ECS in Jersey or 21st Century Motorsports in Texas can easily get you the power that WCC is promising and more. The car will be civil until you step on the pedal. 500 rwhp is pretty easily gotten with the tuners setups.

If going the blower route, here's a Good deal:A&A D1SC blower for sale....................
It'll save you almost a grand over new, and has all of the good parts (and Andy's customer service).

If you want heads/cam, you can go AFR 205 heads with your choice of cam (or one that's recommended by the tuner) and stay within your budget, and once again get you the same power or more (depending on your cam choice).

The best thing to do is go to the left side of the screen and find the supporting tuners and discuss your goals with them. They won't steer you wrong. Good Luck!

$10,500 for heads, cam, and headers ?? Ouch.

AFR 205's ($2,500) + cam ($400) + misc items ($400) + install/tune ($1,500) = $4,800. Even adding $1,500 for long tube headers only brings the bill up to $6,300.

A blower is $7,000 - $8,000 installed. TT's are closer to $12-15K.

Yep... AFR205's are about $2100-2200, cam is $400 or less, headers are at most $1500. $10k for 430ish RWHP is ridiculous unless it involved forced induction and a lot of room for safely raising the boost and thus power level.

Andy's kit was going for $5K before the procharger fiasco. That + AFR's + LT's would get you some real power for around $10K and later on adding forged internals you could turn the boost up and rrreally lay down the power

IMHO go with a Lingenfelter installed Mag Supercharger. Tons of HP & Torque across a wide range of RPM, along with excellent drivability. $10K is too much for the HP you are talking, plus your HP & Torque will be available at higher rpm then with a supercharger. I love my $7K H/C package, but I only drive this car once a week or so. And when I do I spend a lot of time in the 4,000 to 6,500 rpm range to really enjoy the work.

My vote would be for a 402ci LS2 with stg.X heads. $10,000 doesnt go far these days. Or you could do H/C + gears & clutch.

andy buys just the headunits and uses his own everything else..procharger gave him a run around about 4 headunits he ordered, eventually said he had to start buying their whole kits and couldnt buy just headunits anymore then switched back over to saying they'd sell him those 4 and i'm not sure what was decided about future orders...there's a thread about it over in the FI section.

Maybe the $10K also included:

921 comp springs (these along are about $350 per set)
underdrive pulley
ported oil pump
rollmaster double chain
ARP Studs
160 theomstat
Tune

though that would still be under $10K - my guess it should be less than $8K including the above parts....

Default thanks for the tips

Running in the 4 to 6k rpm range does not sound appealling to me.
When does a blown motor start producing its torgue?
How about a Magnuson? anyone run that?
How much can my stock clutch handle before needing to be replaced?
I have 64k miles on my drivetrain, am I gonna have any issues with this milage?
I'm going to check out Andy's Corvette's.

Thanks again all

The Magnacharger makes gobs of torque as soon as you hit the gas. A whole lot of fun on the street and reliable as stock...

I love my heads/cam package LPE installed. It's really strong and great on the street. But, I think you should have the Magnuson, by LPE installed. More low rpm power, and just as strong on a stock c5 as heads/cam. IMHO

Default 10 grand

if you want to play with yourself than get a little bit at a time.OR just got get a supercharger for 8500 installed at ECS in new jersey(you could do a+a since you're on the left coast)Big power without the hassle of doing it little by little. i got a kooks system, and a g5x3 cam with u.d. pulleys and a tune and some incidental stuff for a total of around 5 grand.i now have 392 h.p and 358 torque.getting a charger will put you in the 500 h.p.neighborhood,and oh what a nice neighborhood it is! good luck and ENJOY!

If you plan on any road racing, then I'd recommend a forged LS2 setup with Fast intake with 90mm TB, AFR 225 heads and cam-du-jour. This will allow you a lot of room for future mods and should have you well over 500rwhp. You can choose lopey or smooth, whatever cam profile suits you. For strictly street use, then go with a Maggie as it will be very mild mannered and reliable, but pull hard when asked. For drag racing, a centifugal blower is probably the way to go.
