Default Have a technical A/C question(s)...

Here are the symptoms:

1. Compressor clutch is not engaging.

2. Fuse 24 is good.

3. Manual not dual-climate (automatic) system.

4. Low side pressure at 25 psi.

5. High side pressure at 50 psi.

6. Even when turned off, sides do not "regulate" themselves.

Is the reason the compressor isn't engaging because of the very low high-side pressure?

If so, how do I get the high side pressure to increase (I tried adding refridgerant thru the low-side suction valve)?

Thanks...

If the pressures aren't equalizing I would assume a bad expansion valve or whatever the Vette uses to meter the refrigerant... (I work on central HVAC, not sure if these cars use an expansion valve or not) Or perhaps a restriction somewhere else in the system. Usually electric compressors do not like to start until the high and low side pressures are equalized. I would assume a car would be the same.

I would say a bad compressor cycling switch. It tells the compressor to turn on/off..
