Default Header question for stroker motor?

Hey fellas,

I just built a 408 stroker. I have 1 3/4 LPE's into the stock h-pipe and gutted cats.

What 1 7/8'' headers do y'all recommend? LG's? Kooks?

Any input is appreciated....

-Marko

Hi

We just finished a 408 cu in engine today with a G5X-3 cam and our LG Headers and the results are 484rwhp 487 rwtq with our standard LG Pro Long Tubes.

The torque is over 400 rwtq from just under 3000 rpms and doesn't drop below 400 until 6300 rpms. Torque peak is at 4600 rpms

Rwhp never drops below 478rwhp from 5500 to 6600.

I willl post up the graph tomorrow.

thanks

Thanks for the input.... I'm already makin' those kind of numbers w/ my 1 3/4 headers w/ gutted cats.

Are the headers you are speaking of 1 7/8? If so, PM your best price w/ off road x-pipe/ no cats....

thanks for the input

I thought you were making 463rwhp 445 rwtq? Our package did 484rwhp 487 rwtq. That is 21hp up and 42rwtq up. We did this with our G5X-3 which is a small cam compared to your cam.

At any rate, our headers are 1 3/4 with all the features that we tout like the collectors and 3" X pipe etc.

Call me or one of the salesmen and we will get you a good price. We expect to see Torque and Hp about equal on a stroker. Our headers will give you that. I like the torque down low. (4200 rpm) which is not really low but the big low end torque is what makes a car feel fast rather than just having the top end number.

Remember 40 ft pounds of torque at 5250rpms is equal to 40 more hp. and that is not too shabby.

Thanks

This should be interesting, Lou are you claiming your 1 3/4 LT's are better on a 408 than let's say ......Kooks 1 7/8?

That is exaclty what I'm doing....

Lou, I do appreciate you chiming in.... my car is making a little more than what i posted initially.... I still had a lot of stock stuff on the car at the time of the first dyno tune (ie intake, MAF, throttle body, stock pulley).
