I bought one of those $40 short throw shifters off ebay and I just got done installing it. It works great, especially for $40. I don't have anything to compare it to other than the stock shifter. It does have a much shorter throw, even after I had cut down my stock shifter shorter. It engages all the gears no problems.
It doesn't have adjustable springs or stops, but in my opinion the ones that come with it are fine...although it does take a little muscle to shift now, that's to be expected with a shorter throw.
So, for $40, they are a great deal if you don't need all the adjustable features of other $160-$200 shifters.
Well, I've never heard a Hurst shifter, but I tried to listen for any rattling and did not notice any. I do have a convt. so maybe the slight wind noise drowned it out. But as for any noticeable noise, there was none.
If you are talking vibrations, then yes, you can feel them through the shifter, but not much more than stock.
