Default Headers: is my 99 LS1 too old?

I have 55k on my engine. Is it too late to think of installing headers?
Any suggestion as far as brand if my engine isn't too old?
Can't affoard to swap out for an new one.

Thanks in advance:

You've got to be f'ing kidding...

I'm at 175K+ and about to do heads/cam/headers. Local guy that owns a shop here claims LS1's he's torn apart at 150K+ miles that are maintained well look like they're bearly broken in...

Do it. Headers will work just fine on your car. Dynatech makes a good set, as well as Kooks and LG.

I put headers on my '99 at 64K miles.

Just do it!

I put headers on at about 60k miles, and now at 70k and just did a nasty heads and cam package. car screams.

When I had the motor apart (top end) the inside looked NEW.. cylinder walls were perfect, you could still see the original cross hatch pattern from the hone.....

I plan on putting some headers on my car also in the near future. I havent decided which ones though. I hear that the LGs are the best way to go and will give you the most amount of power but i know its not too big of a difference. Why are the LGs $300 more then the dynatechs? Is there anything i am missing, i know they are both stainless steel so what is the big difference? Whats the difference in the LGs, Kooks, and Dynatech? Is is just design?

LG's and Dynatechs are longer than the Kooks. The LG's have a better design merge collector that makes more power and TQ than the Dynatech. Personally I would do LG's... Installed 2 sets and they are easy. I have coated StainlessWorks now.. but want a set of LG's for my car..

Put my headers on at 140,000.
Cracked it open for H/C at 150,000 and aside from some black gunk, it looked new.
All the carbon cleaned right off. Here's one clean and one dirty.

Get the QTP Tri Y headers. It will really wake the car up. Bolts right up and no tuning required and no codes.
