Just wondering if anyone has tried them, and if anyone has a comparison of them
vs. the Mich pilot sports in the 295/35-18 sizes for dry straight line traction.
i've had them on for about a month. previously i had supercars.straight line driving they feel about the same (traction slightly less , ride quality same). the supercars seemed to handle better in the twisties.maybe because of stiffer sidewalls? supercars have 10.2 " footprint, firestone 10.05" footpint.the firestones have a wide lip that sticks out past your rims, which i like because it protects them from curbs or whatever. they look as wide as supercars from behind because of this lip but close up side by side noticeably narrower.for the price they are an excellent tire, but next time i will go back to supercars or michelins w/ the wider tread look.imo
FWIW, I'm not sure how the Wide Ovals compare to the SZ50's, which I had two pair of. Overall, the Firestones (Bridgestone) were good tires and a decent option to the EMT's.
Currently though, I have to swear to the Goodyear GS-D3's and believe many will agree. I got my set for about $875 from Tire Rack vs. $1200 for run-flats and the feel like driving on pillows after years of run-flat "poundings". I'll be buying these for a while, they're great!!
Pilots are probrably the best overall, but since I don't go to the track, why spend the extra dough?
