Default Diablo or Hypertech?

I was wondering which one of these handheld tuners is going to give me the best bang for the buck? Any suggestions? What kind of horsepower gains can I expect? If any.

I had a hypertech and did back to back runs at the drag strip and actually ran faster and quicker stock than with the "power program" but i have never tried the diablo i sent the hypercrap back for a refund. Im much happier now. Hope this helps

Gee with my Hypertech bought used, I went from 13.95 @103mph to 13.17@106+, did add their thermostat and ZO6 catback. Weather and 60ft times were very similar.Since I paid little more than what a fan controller would have cost, I consider it a bargain. Its pretty simple a cooler engine makes more power. Theres no magic involved I saw a auto tap spreadsheet of the hypertech program, a couple degrees of added timing and no knock retard, good for about ten hp, whereas a heat soaked engine set up for 91 octane loses about ten hp.Predator does not make a tuner for the 97-98s so I cannot comment.

Hypertech programers are junk. On a dyno I lost 13hp at rear wheel with the Hypertech. I had problems with my car labor knocking so I call Hypertech 800 number the one in there book. They told me that the hypertech programer should not be used on a car with headers and a after market air intake system. What a joke

I've heard good things anotu the Hypertec - except for one major flaw... they won't gear scale an A5 C5 ratios other than factory available2.73 or 3.15. Although it goes through all the motions as if it worked, the C5 will throw codes after a hunderd miles or so and there's no fix for it. Hypertec tech supports fix for this problem ifs for you to "buy someone elses programmer".

If you have a 6 speed - then this isn't a concern.

One other factor to consider is that there are many here with a lot of experience with the Predator.

But because of the Hypertec gear scaling snafu - there isn't much forum help for the HPIII.

Hypertech is crap. It scrambled the pcm twice on my 98 Z28. So for my vette I got a superchips.
