hood alignment
how might i go about re-aligning my hood? it seems to have worked it's way outta whack (probably from my off-road trek at the track ). i didn't notice it soon enough and it has rubbed completely through the paint from where the headlight door touches the hood edge in one location
is this something i would be better off leaving for the dealer? it doesn't seem like it should be very hard but i certainly don't want to risk ending up with it even worse .

It's not hard to do, the hood or the headlight door. I've done both!!
The headlight door was a new one installed after a bad one was removed... Take your time and look at the adjusting screws and how they work. It's easy enough to figure out. You can also raise and lower the four corners of it, so it fits right in line with your hood. You may have to remove it and put it back on a few times but those screws are separate from the ones that adjust it side to side (both front and back, left and right).
As for the hood, it's all right there in the front where it pivots... If I remember correctly, you simply loosen the two bolts holding the bracket down on each side and slide them in SMALL increments to adjust for fit. It's simple enough... I think I loosened mine only enough to us a rubber mallet to tap them around. I'm sure you know how to use the rubber bumper screws to raise and lower the corners when it's shut..., right? It's likely, those are fine anyway.. but just to make sure it's as close and you can get it...
You may want to readjust the other headlight door when your done if it doesn't look as good as your other one. Just keep the gaps around them even and make sure it flows nicely over them and the hood.
The key is keeping the gaps around all of the pieces nice and uniform and flowing over the curves in your front end...

that's a good idea
my concern was that if i loosened them up completely it'd be a total pain to get everything right because it would just be moving around all over the place.
