Recently had same problem on my 97. Common problem with blower motor run on. Have to replace. Cost for the part alone is about $1100.00. I did a temporary fix by wiring an inline fuse and switch to cut the power to the blower when the car was turned off. Worked for a while, then eventually the blower would only run on high. Send me a PM and I have the info somewhere on the Service Bullitin and wiring schematic from GM

I have that. 01 Coupe.
Comes on by itself when the car is switched off and key removed - for 10 seconds and goes off. I ignore it because it does not flatten my Optima and I have other things to do.
Is it possible that you have the stinky A/C GM fix done to your cars? Down here in the South GM installed a timer (or like item) that after the car shuts off will run the FAN for a predetermined time to dry the A/C box.
From the GM 2001 Vette Service Manual."...to remove odors and eliminate the microbial growth and prevent its recurrence, the blower control package of the service kit will enable the blower to run at high speed for 5 mn.It will do so approximately 50 mn after the ignition has been turned off if the A/C compressor had been engaged for 4 or more minutes prior to shutting down the engine. By doing so the evaporator case and core are dried out, reducing the cjances of A/C odor."

Seems to work OK on mine...

Not so fast......I know I don't have the timer on mine. Guess what....MINE DID THE SAME &#%*&$%* THING YESTERDAY on a '97, no less. Is there a bug in the computers to make this happen on 9/27/05?!?!? To boot, my ex-girlfriend 'keyed' the car. (Thought the blower might be my 'baby' crying b/c the ex hurt her )Damage - $3500 according to the first estimate
No more wives, live-ins, etc. for me!!!!! By the time I'm done with lawyers, etc., I'll have spent enough to get a used Z06!!! (and still keep my C5).
Ah hell, it's only money. Now I'll be able to get all the tricks for the vette, too. Any suggestions for a paint/body shop near K-ville.
