Is there an instruction guide or manual to change out a C5 shifter for a C6? I got one from Fred Beans (great service by the way) and I would like to install it myself. So, before I put the car out of commission while I do it, I am trying to find a guide. Any ideas?
I presume the neutral adjusting pin is the pin in the front of the shifter? All you do is pull it up once the install is complete?
Yes, you are correct Now go enjoy the way this car should shift! Also, if you haven't put synthetic tranny fluid in it do that too. That made a world of difference on my 2000 with a B&M shifter.
See also my post http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show....php?t=1118835 following my C6 shifter installation. I found a new way to remove the dreaded shift **** key (the worst part of job) and found it easier to remove console cover to do the job as well.
the devil key is easy to remove.
clamp onto it with a pair of needle nose vice grips (clamp onto the driver and passenger sides)
with your left hand pull up slightly wiggling it to the front and back( like you were a dentist trying to pull out a tooth with a pair of pliers)... simultaneously ...lightly tap the side of the vice grips ( passenger side) with a hammer using your right hand. It took 4 taps of the hammer for mine to pop out.
