Torque Converter: Vigilante or ProTorque ??
I need to make a very quick decision.
I want a mild TC for a daily driver. It will see many road race days and a couple of days at the strip each year. I have 3.42 gears and 412 RWHP
It needs to be high quality and dependable. Needs lock up ability.
Looking at 2400 to 2800 max. Want best torque multiplication possible.
Which of these companies do you recommend?

i have a vig 4000 2.25 str and the driveablility is more than fine. i dont understand why everyone is so scared to go to a real TC. a 2400 TC to me seems like a total waste of money. take it from me. i already had a yank 3000 and wasted my money with it. only issue is heat but add a tranny cooler and your fine
PT 2400 here with no problems and excellent driveability going on 4 years now. Other than a quick 1-2 shift during street driving, this unit behaves like stock on my 405 RWHP vert. Also no delay from the time you put your foot on the gas until the car moves, feels really natural.

Thanks, Al. I'm trying to decide on gears and converter for, hopefully, a winter install. I don't strip race the car and was thinking 3.42s and a Protorque 2400, myself. I drove a car with similar power to mine (376 rwhp, 375 rwtorque, SAE corrected and smoothed), with that setup, and it sure felt good to me.

Were they the same stall on the same car??
Protorque has one that they claim is specifically made for the C5

I am freaking out........
I ordered the Pt2400 today thru my tuner A&A.
Then he told me he thought the PT2400 felt much looser than a Vig2400 he recently had in his shop.
Both had 3.42 and FLP
I have to call him first thing in the am and he will see if he can get the Vig2400 shipped by friday.
ProTorque says that theirs is the tightist feeling converter.
Its going to cost me twice as much in shipping to get the Vigilante
Damn converters...........

I had a ProTorque 2400 in my C5 and I have nothing but good things to say about it. Also Bigmac on this forum recently had the ProTorque 2400 installed.
In normal driving it behaves very similar to stock. No noticable looseness at all. But when you kick it it performs very well.

NO LOOSENESS AT ALL in the PT 2400
You guys think maybe Andy at A&A is getting a little LOOSE in his old age??
I think I am going to go drive his with PT2400/3.42/FLP level5 in the morning and see for my self. It also has a super charger though... as does everything he owns!!!
BIGMAC, EB2003, Pewtavert:
Thanks for the good reports on the PT2400
I talked to them this morning and they were very nice and helpful. He claims their converter is very tight and cool....not requiring a cooler (I already have one anyways)
Wish you guys could give me your experinces with the TC in serious canyon carving or road racing.
