Default Lag in Power

I have a 2004 vert 6mn, 10K miles. I typically don't drive the car too hard, but sometimes I run pretty hard. I've noticed that when I shift from second to third, about 500 rpm's from redline, when I let the clutch out and I'm back on the gas, there is a solid second or more delay in power. It's not a slipping clutch as there is just nothing..no engine noise, no power....just nothing...just dead quiet. Any thoughts on this issue guys? BTW, this only happens from second to third.

How old are you plugs / wires? Have you had any tuning done?

The car is a 2004 with 10K miles, so the plugs aren't old. It could be the active handling, but the the DIC doesn't indicate that. Could be though.

You need to learn to shift better. I have the same car and have not experienced what you describe. And I shift near redline on numerous occassions.

I had a very similar issue with my 2000. Full throttle in 2nd, quick shift to 3rd (not a power shift) at approx 5500, and a momentary lag in power. Felt likie it dropped 30-40 horses, like the timing dropped for a second. Then all was good.
Only did it sometimes. But I changed plugs to NGK at 15k miles, and I have never had it happen again.
Can't say it was the AC plugs, they had all the pucks attached and looked new, but it might be worth a try.

I've experienced the same thing... I was guessing traction control too but the DIC is never has said so at those points and the DIC is usually very good about indicating active handling or traction control...

Yeah, I first thought it was traction control - I don't have the active handling. But it just didn't appear to be breaking the tires loose, and the DIC didn't light up. I tried it a few times with the traction control turned off, same sag. From 1st to 2nd it would chirp really hard and haul ***, and the DIC wouldn't come on, then that silly sag going into 3rd again.
But like I said, NGK TR55 two years ago, and it hasn't happened since.

Torque management system? It's generally more intrusive on the A4 (I know from experience with mine) but maybe it is overly zealous with your car for some reason?
