I went with the B&M 24000 from Summit Racing and It works great with my 3.42 and Yank SS3600

I’d go with a B&M. It’s a plate type cooler, which is more efficient, compared to the old finned tube type design. For the stock converter use the B&M 70264 (6x11x1½, includes hose & clamp installation kit) or B&M 70273 (same but with ½ NPT fittings). If you want cooler temps or plan to change to a high stall converter, use the B&M 70266 (8x11x 1½, ½ NPT fittings) or B&M 70270 same but with hose & clamp installation kit).

The coolers that use ½ NPT fittings, can be adapted to barb fittings to use with rubber hose and clamps, but if your like me then you’ll want the security and looks of stainless steel braided lines. If so, this is what you’ll need to hook it up to your transmission lines:

You can get all of the Aeroquip parts and the B&M coolers from Summit Racing.
Note: Summit puts a prefix in front of the number (AER-) for Aeroquip and (BMM-) for B&M

(2) Aeroquip FCM2013 –6 AN to ½ NPT male adapter (cooler)

(1) Aeroquip FCM1022 –6 AN 45* swivel hose end (trans return line)

(2) Aeroquip FCM4032 –6 AN 90* swivel hose end (cooler)

(1) Aeroquip FCM4042 –6 AN 120* swivel hose end (radiator)

(2) Aeroquip FCM2108 –6 AN to 5/8 –18 inverted flare adapter (radiator & trans return line)

(1) Aeroquip FCA0606 –6 AN AQP racing hose, 6ft.

(1) GM # 442338 (or similar) 5/8 –18 inverted flare female union (trans return line)

Aeroquip website: http://www.aeroquip.com/pages/lit.html

You can also use Aeroquip “socketless” hose and fittings that are easier to assemble than those above.

Trans return line is the upper line.

B&M uses ½ NPT, female fittings on their coolers, others may be different.
GM used the 5/8 –18 inverted flare fittings, through at least 2000, maybe later, and then it was changed to something else.

In addition, to mount the cooler on your condenser, you’ll need a mounting kit such as Summit’s SUM-G4990

What's the risk in by-passing the radiator tank and solely running a B&M 24k cooler with a fan? I had a track day recently and the tranny reached 248* so I pulled off for a few minutes. I currently have a Tru-cool but it has 11/32 tubes and is only 3/4" thick and it completely failed that day. I've ordered the B&M and fan but now I think I might eliminate the stock radiator side tank altogether because it seemed to track right up with the coolant temps. Which is the best way to attach the cooler for performance driving. The car never sees snow.
