Ok guys take it easy on me, I have been away from the forum for a long time, spending money on stupid stuff like house remodeling, boat and getting married, honeymoon, etc.. so feel a little dumb with these questions. First how caompatable are the parts, i.e. heads, cam, etc with the LS2? The follow up to that is with a 4.00 bore, what is the max CID you can get out of it with-out sleeving it.
The reason I ask is that I have been wanting to move to a sleeved 427 CID with all the other performance mods I have already invested in but also came across what appears to be a good price on a bare LS2 block.
I am thinking of doing a forged 402 stroker for next year since the block is only $1K to start. Not sure if you can go larger than that without boring.
Sometime in the next months the LS7 block should be out that as an aftermarket part and is hopefully cheaper than the C5R which then you could do a forged 427 without sleeving.
Thanks for the heads up on the LS7, That would be awesome if they are less expensive, would like to avoid the resleeving if at all possible! MTI is doing the LS2 reslevved at a great price IMHO.
I'm running an LS2 based 421 cid engine in my road race car. I lean on it heavily in repeated 20 minute track sessions. Here are the specifics:
4.030" bore size (no problem with the stock sleeve, should have gone 4.060" for 427 cid)
4.125" stroke
AFR 225 heads
FAST90 w/ LS2 90 T/B
250/.612/112 hydraulic cam
