Default Auto to M6 conversion?

Has anyone done this and what's involved? I know it's cheaper to sell and buy but I have 28k on the clock and I like all the mods I've done so far. That would all be lost in a sale. I'm guessing a torque tube, bell housing, tranny, diff 3.42, linkage, pedal setup. What else? Does the computer need reprogramming or replacement? Is the center counsole different? Is this a DIY or more than an average wrench can handle?

Honest opinions would be appreciated.

Thanks,

It can be done, but it's a big job. Takes a full weekend if you're a pretty decent wrench. And ... I wouldn't want to do it without a lift. You can do a search and see several posts of guys who have done it.

I am in the process of doing this right now. I just purchased everything that I need for the swap, tranny, torque tube, clutch, etc. for $2000. A&A is going to install it for me in the next few weeks or so. It seems like a fairly straight forward job, the only thing that might get tricky is the wiring, but plenty of people on the forum have successfully done this. Good luck!

I've been contemplating doing this for over two years now, and I finally pulled the trigger to get things going. I can't wait!

Give it some thought. Maybe we can swap parts and save some buku bucks.

Default Go for it

I have been thinking this route since buying my 2003 vette. I finally have told my mechanic to quote and get stuff together. My quote is much higher than your part cost, but I do trust my mechanic. Good luck, I am taking the car in on the 14th of this month to have it done. Will let you know how it comes out.

Ernie, leave your car a M6 esp. if it is not your daily driver.
