I took my car to the dealer for my first oil change 6 months ago since it was free and noticed they did not put a PF 44 (AC Delco) oil filter on. I looked in my owners manual and it calls for a PF 44. Since it did not leak I left it on. I had some PF 44's from my Trans Am I have been using and now I need new AC Delco filters. I just went out to 2 different Advance Auto stores and they don't have the PF44. Were they replaced with a different number? I don't remember the # the dealer used. I hate to vary from the owners manual and would rather stay with AC Delco. I also don't want to use a longer filter. Anyone know what's going on?
Thanks wicked weasel but I only drive 6K per year and do an oil change once a year so that would last me 6 years. I have had them rust inside (Florida humidity) so I don't buy more than 1 or 2 at a time. So I am guessing if the still make the Ultra Guard 44 then they still make the regular PF 44. I'll keep looking arround to see who has them. Wal-Mart used to carry the AC/Delco but they don't down here anymore.
If you get frustrated looking for the AC Delco, the AMSOIL SDF Oil Filter is an alternative which you can order online or via a 1-800# and have it shipped to your door (ordering info link in my sig). Footprint is the same, so it won't stick down below the oil pan.
