You have a automatic slak reducer in you ratchet. Sometimes it stucks together, but it can be cleaned with WD40. But this only reduces slak.
If the shoes are worn or too far away from the dish, there is no automatic to reduce this. You will have to take off the rear rotor and turn the star wheel.
