Hi All,

I have nothing noted on the exact changes. Normal changes are the valving, etc.

From the way everything looks, they should fit a C5. We're willing to pay for shipping to anyone who wants to purchase them and test them out and provide feedback. If you're interested, send me an email.

Gene; is that $172.76 'EACH' when you buy four, or is that $172.76 for all four?

thanks Gene for the offer....

that would be for all 4 (nice compared to the C5 Z06 shocks @ over $300.00).

I ordered them and will be testing them to see if they fit and, if they fit, how they do at the track (I am running the 1/4 mile this month and Watkins Glenn road course at the beginning of October).

I will keep everyone informed as I findout.

BTW - I am going from basic shocks with Z06 sway bars - to these shocks with the Z06 sways...

Bob

I think GM probably did some serious cost cutting to the shocks to keep the price of the Z06 down... GM doesnt price gouge, they have standard markups over their cost. I wouldn't be at all surprised if the C5 Z06 shocks are better engineered and beefier construction. Performance may or may not be improved.

Just my $0.02

If these new shocks prove to be the same or better than the older version then I'm ready to get all four myself. Can you find out if there is a difference in weight?

I will check the weight when they come in. FredBeans is quick to ship to my location so I should have some answers by end of the week.

I would tend to be on your side with this. My only hope is that they are not going to suffer performance on a 500HP car, but we will see.

If the 04 Z had better shocks than a standard C5 why would they put anything less in the 60K $ 06 Z with over 500hp?

I Don't think so

WW could you also measure to see if the new shocks are shorter, I am interested in that as well, Gene could not answer this.
Thanks

I'm thinking they might be a little harsh for our C5s. I just read the review of the 06 Z06 in the Oct Motor Trend. To quote them....

" On a racetreck, the tautly sprung Z06 is smooth and predictable. But on real-world roads, the ride is tolerable at best, skittish at worst. The stiff suspension sometimes skips like a stone over sharp pavement seams...first at the front, then at the rear...which can erode the confidence it exhibits at the track."

I look forward to seeing how they work in the C5 because I'd like some if they're not too harsh.

The specs on these shocks would help us all out. I did see a reference in one of the articles about the new Z06 to the spring rates being higher, so I'd assume that the valving is different at a minimum.

my guess too would be the valving is somewhat different, but knowing that they made a great product with the 04 Z06 shocks I am wondering how much they would sway from that design.

regarding the rest of the specs I guess we will know once I get them in my dirty little paws.....
