I've got a TPS that's not working all the time. Based on what I've read on this great forum, it's probably a low battery. To remove the TPS, do I have to remove the tire from the rim or can I deflate the tire and push the tire over far enough to remove?
Bottom line...can I do this myself or do I have to take it to a garage to break the tire down?
You can try that but if it may take some effort to break the tire bead. So you may still have to remove the tire from the car and use a tire machine to break it.
I think you sent me a pm about it. I replied to your pm. The best way to do the sensor swap is to take the wheel and tire to the tire shop. I would not recommend doing this yourself as you would definately scractch the wheels using some sort of pry bar on it.
All you have to do is have a tire shop break the bead. Reach in and remove the sensor, install the new sensor, and have them rebead the tire on the wheel. Then just retrain the sensor to your cars computer. The tire shop can probably do everything except retrain the sensor for a minor fee.

Thanks for the advise, all! It's the answer that I expected, but I was hoping...
I never received your PM, FactoryRaceCar. First time this has ever happened to me. I sent you another PM to see if you still had a TPS. I haven't bought a replacement yet.
