How to check auto trans fluid
Does anyone know how to check the auto trans fluid level on an 04. The manual just tells you to take it to the dealer. I'm sure that it isn't rocket science.

It's a real pain. You need to lift the car up high enough to get under and the car must be level. Start it up and let it run until the trans temp is 90-110 degrees. Then remove the fill plug on the drivers side of the trans pan. I found it beneficial to loosen it first while it is cool and then working it out while hot is less dangerous. The exhaust runs right along side of the fill plug. The oil level should be even with the bottom of the fill hole. Just fill it until it drains out. You'll need to shift thru the gears and then check again. All this is done while the engine is running. That's why it is done by the dealer. It's at your own risk.
