Hey guys i was just wondering what you guys are using to make sure that the k&n replacement filter seals up. I thought I heard of some people using silicone to seal their's up, but wouldn't that make the filter get stuck in the housing? Sorry if these are dumb questions. Any help would be appreciated.
I read on a thread somewhere that Vararam was coming out with a K&N filter that would fit in the B2. Shupposed to be out in a month or 2. Don't know if that helps you now though. The K&N 'replacement' filter for the B2 is not a good fit, so Vararam decided to have one built to fit. Check there web site over the upcoming months.
I'm surprised you're running that piece of crap Ed. Pay $400, then have to buy a different filter, which by the way isn't much better than the one that came with it, then try to figure out how to seal it. Now that's funny.
And as you know most of the guys report a loss in power at the track.
I don't know, my car pulls very strong in the 2nd 1/8th. As I only have Vararam, headers, Magnaflow exhaust and a tune, believe the strong pull as the mph's increase is a result of the Vararam. CAr is running faster each time I go to the track (I'm getting better) and my best now stands at 12.6 @ 110 mph.
I will say, I am not excited about the filter, but I don't seem to find much grit/dirt etc inside the TB when I clean the filter. Have a K&N which I applied weather stripping to and use that when I am not at the track. I still think it is a strong performer and if they come up with a direct fit K&N, then all the more better.

What do you have Bob as far as a CAI?
I'm running a Blackwing. No header, no exhaust. Runs 12.7 with a hard launch. Did you notice what you said. And I quote "I don't seem to find much grit/dirt etc inside".
it should be free when the orig one in the kit does this
That was my filter in my piece of crap vararam, it's a miracle my vette did not blow up! As it was it was seriously bogging down at 1/4 throttle and confusing the hell out of the MAF sensor. Connecticut figured that one out.
I know. I was apprehensive at first and that's why I eventually bought the K&N filter. You get some great result from just a CAI. I have to say, I am not as proficient as I would like to be in the launching of my 6 speed, but it is improving. Remember, this is my first year. I am a 52 year old rookie relative to Corvette drag racing.

HAhahahaha. $400, boy they must have saw you coming. Most guys named Korreck report a loss at the track.

Good luck in NED and bring us back a Viper Skin
Here's filter info Ed. Thanks for the good wishes. I hope to do well and get me a couple of Vipers in the process.
Get them at the current $49.95 price. Rumor has it that K&N is going to increase the price on them and the price hike could be around: $20.00. Don't let the price get up to: $69.95.

The one you have is the old design.
The new design VaraRam doesn't even have yet! They'll have it by the end of the month.
