What are these LS1 edits, where do you get them, how do you install them and how much. Im new to the vette scene but see alot of talk about getting more power from these edits?

LS1 edit is a program that you either load on to your home computer and hook up to your car through the OBD port, or it can be a box you buy that hooks up to the same port. You can then read the program out of your cars system and edit it and write it back in. or with the box types they walk you through an edit.

Personally I use HP tuner software as it has everything under the sun, but beware if you don't know what you are doing you can do some serious damage to your car. Read through the Scan and Tune section here on this forum and you can also go to WWW.hptuners.com or www.blackls1ta.com if you want to read a easy summary or www.ls1tech.com for much more.
There this should keep you busy reading for a while. HP Tuner and LS1 Edit seem to be the top two being used. the choice is up to you.

Believe me you will learn more about how your car works and runs than you ever dreamed possiable!

I highly recommend that you read and learn as much as you can about this as it will help you determine if this is the route you want to go. It takes a good amount of study to understand what is going on. Also it will save you a ton of money. Good luck!

LS1Edit is software you run on a PC and make changes to (reprograms) the PCM (fuel computer) on GM LS1/LS6 based engines. This is referred to as tuning. Simply tuning won't gain much power now days, but when the engine has been modified then tuning is most times required and will show much better gains.

LS1Edit can be found at http://www.carputing.com

There is newer software out now which seems better and easer to use like EFILive and HP Tuners. EFILive looks like the best to me but everyone will argue who is the best.

EFILive can be found at http://www.efilive.com
HP Tuner can be found at http://www.hptuners.com

But before you get into tuning with any of these software packages above you will need a wideband O2 sensor and controller so you can "see" the results of your changes. Innovate motorsports at http://www.innovatemotorsports.com is one resources for O2 sensors. Check out their videos at http://www.innovatemotorsports.com/resources/lm101.php they will explain some about what the O2 can do in the tuning process.
