Line Lock question
Though your question asked if you could run a switch and the anwser to that is yes....
. Safe answer is, no
. Will it work OK, maybe
.I'm sure many Line-Locks are not designed to be energized 100% of the time. I'm guessing the coils would over heat and I'm sure with a switch it would be used for much longer periods of time than with a button. So you would have to make sure it didn't say energized too long at a time or you may burn up your line-lock.
Safety. It's not like the line-lock is going to cause you to instantly crash if activated while driving but it can cause a dangerous situation. Special for someone who don't know the car. What you could do to make it much safer would be to add a relay and a switch to the existing button design. So you could flip the switch to enable the lock&hold (sticky button) then you would have to push the button on activate the lock, then the relay would hold the lock until you flip the switch off. That way just a flip of a switch will not activate the lock by itself, you would have to push the button too. It could be setup to allow the button to work like normal also. But what ever you do, don't rely on the line-lock like a parking brake! Don't turn it on and get out of the car like you would your parking brake!
PM me if you need details on using a relay to make a sticky button.
