Default Digital Climate control

Anyone know if its possible to switch from the regualr climate controls to the digital climate controls? Is it plug-and-play or are there other things that need to be done?

To answer your question it is NOT a plug and play swap. Not even close! Unfortunately. I have looked into this long ago when I bought my 99 hardtop and after some research I found that it would be easier to actually sell your car and buy a dual zone a/c equipped car. There are many sensors, wire harnesses, and modules to name a few of the items you will need to do the swap. I dont even mind my basic turn **** controls anymore even more so now that there is literally one new post a day on the dual zone a/c malfunctioning.
Hope this answers your question.

Well, in the event of not wanting to sell my car - anyone know of a workaround or way to get this to work?

Well to start I know for a fact you will need a completely new interior dash wire harness for a dual zone a/c equipped car. This harness will also have plugs for the new sensors and actuators that will go under the dash. I know there are exterior and interior temp sensors. I am searching around now trying to find a more detailed list for you.

The two do not work, it is not plug and play, from what I understand.

I don't know why you want the digital control. I have never liked automatic air conditioners - they never seem to get the temperature right. I have the digital unit and am always fiddling with so its "automatic" advantage is minimal. It also has a reliability problem with the dimming display. I think you should be happy you don't have it.

Well, I guess I don't REALLY have to have one. But, my controls went out on me (at least I think thats what it is, it still blows cold but will not change from face/feet setting). I figured since I have to replace the controls, I would try to go digital. I can't seem to find the regular controls anywhere and was only able to find the digital ones. For now I wouldnt mind going with the regular ones just to get it working right, since I am assuming that is what needs to be replaced. But, I would like to look into this for a future mod. Mainly because it looks cooler

You probably have a vacuum line problem. It is probably not the control head.

How would I go about checking that?

Before I go about replacing this thing, can someone point me in the right direction as to how I can check if its a vacuum line problem?
