I was wondering why the manufacturers don't make programmers like the predator for the 97-98 vettes? I would really like to get one, but I have a 98, is there anyone who has gotten one to work? Is my only real solution to a tuner is to get LS1 edit? Please let me know what you've done, or what you suggest. My car is a 98 6spd with all the bolt-on's other than FI, NOS, or H/C.
The 97-98 PCM's have different coding than 99 and up. Most of the handheld suppliers did not want to spend the R&D money to crack the codes due to the limited market size. I had a custom tune written by Superchips www.superchips.com that I am very happy with.
I am however, moving on to a dyno tune by a tuner that is using HP Tuners software and a Dynojet Dyno.
At this point, I'd opt for either EFILive or HPTuners over LS1-Edit. I've been using LS1-Edit for, gee, almost four years now. EFILive does not yet support programming '98s but that is (very) soon to change and I'll finally be switching over when that's dialed in. It's a bit overdue (long story) but that's not really relevant if you're just getting into the game. Suffice it to say that I'm still recommending it after purchasing it and waiting for '98 support for nearly a year. The only thing LS1-Edit really had going for it was that it got to market early and worked. There are better options now.
