Default Dual Zone ac problem ( Again ) what I found

I know that this issue has been beat to death but from the posts on the forum there are still alot of us suffering from the dual zone left side hot air problem and codes B0361 and B0441. Here is what I have learned and I believe I have got it fixed ( again ). First others have said that adding freon has fixed theirs which may be their problem and also be a additional problem for some of the rest of us, but if you are getting the dreaded B0361 and B0441 codes you need to fix that problem first. I tried resetting the codes and it would work ok for a little while but always came back. Next I replaced the left side temp door actuator which I had to remove the dash cover to do. I thought this fixed it but it came back the next day. Fortunately the dash was still off. Today I found some information on the forum while doing a Goggle search of the B0361 codes. It had information about resetting the actuator timing gear ( blue in my case ) to the output gear to prevent the control unit from sensing a overtravel. I tried that and I is working fine now though i have tried every thing to get it to reset the problem codes. P.S. you have to remove the actuator and take the cover off to reset it. Be sure not to disturb the gears and match mark them before you try to reindex them. Many thanks to all of the forum members who have posted information and I will try to link the other thread to the bottom of this. Good Luck to all

Good Job. Is it possible for you to post a sketch or picture showing which gear, which direction, how many teeth to index, etc?

pictures and a document would really help. Just about everytime I disconnect my battery I get the same codes. I have to disconnect the battery again to reset the codes, and usually they don't come back, unless I disconnect my battery again.

Default AC Actuator

I took my new actuator apart to take pictures of the gears to move, but the new actuator is different from the old one I used to reset. Its case has clips instead of screws and the output position signal is taken straight off the output gear this type can't be changed. ( It threw codes when I tried it before resetting the old one. Sorry the old one is in the car and its all together, but if you remove the cover of the actuator ( the old style with the screws ) and hold it so the output gear is toward you on the right, the gear to change (blue ) was just left of it. I rotated it two teeth counter clockwise compared to the output. You have to remove the center drive gear set then pull the output toward you, rotate the sensor gear and put the gears back where they were. I don,t see how the new type can be reset at all. Glad I did'nt throw away the old one. If you don't know where the actuators are you have to remove the dash pad, and there are two, one left and one right. They are on the second set of doors down as you look into the center air duct above the evaporator core. Hope this helps, I took pictures of the new one but I haven't figured out how to post them yet.

Long story short, the dash pad has to come off, correct?

Was it a big deal? How long did it take to get to the actuator?
