Default column lock reflash

I was reading on the sticky that is said on the a4 cars you don't have to reflash the pcm after doing the colunm lock recall. I talked to the GM dealer and they said they have to reflash it after they are done. Mine is a 1997. I didn't know if I should trust this dealer or go some where else. Does anybodt know if a reflash is required?

neither the A4 or the manual should be reflashed because it does not solve the problem of the column locking. it just protects GM from liability.

go to the dealer, tell them you want the lockplate removed and the harness K installed, and NO reprogramming! If they ask why just tell them you have an expensive tune in the PCM. If the dealer wont ablige find another dealer. Reprogramming has caused problems for a number of members here.

I think it may be a good idea to take it some where else. I asked them if they have ever done one before, they said no So I'm not sure if I should trust them.

No, a reflash is not required on A4's according to the GM recall notice.
The reflash is only required on M6's.
Find another dealer.
