While ECS driving should be the best test, I had a few more thoughts about the 2004 v. 2006 zo6 shocks. I went from z51 to 2004 zo6 shocks on my coupe. While the 2004 z06 shocks are a little firmer, they also have significantly better rebound control and, when coupled with good non-runflats, eliminated on my car the infamous high speed turn sidestep, when a bump is encountered. If you look at Road & Track's preliminary drive of the 2006 z06, they say that it has that sidestep !
The sidestep is most likely a function of the exceptionally stiff sidewall in the run flat tires.
I would still like to see some feedback on these new '06 Z06 shocks on a '04 Z06 for a direct comparison of the shocks.
Andy, please elaborate. Are you saying the C6 Z06 shocks won't fit?
Did anyone with lowered cars notice a major change in ride height?
trying to decide between C6 Z06, 04 Z06, or Bilstein Sports
I am not sure what he meant by fit. I was the first to put them on and they fit fine both the front and rears. I have run the car at Watkins Glen and in the 1/4 mile with no issues. everyday driving is fine and I do not bottom out.
My car is lowered on stock bolts and it seems to be fine.
Wicked,
Great write-up. Mine is a 2004 z51 vert, and the tracking and wheel hop are what I'm working for the next set of mods. I think the guys at Spring Mountain will have some thoughts, but maybe I'll do these C6 ZO6 shocks and C5 ZO6 sways. I wonder if the C6 ZO6 sways are also a direct fit for a C5.
My Z is on longer rear bolts and cut front bushings so Im waiting to see if they will work on a "looooooow" Z06. It's either these 06 Z06 shocks or the bilstiens or me.

The C6 Z06 sways and springs are not a direct fit. You will have to do the C5 Z06 sways.

that would be a problem probably. I would say the Bilstiens would be a good choice...
We definitely have to go up to bear mountain so you can really test those babies out. Congratulations on the new mods!! I wonder how they will feel without the runcraps on the vette?
Damn, I miss Wednesday night at Bear mountain. I cant remember which I liked better. When I was a kid and it was $5.00 all you can drink, or Wednesday muscle car gathering paying $ 5.00 a drink
We need something like that during the week in Virginia.
Wicked, I thought I saw a little dirt on the under body in the photos, can you clean that up a little
I have the F-45 and enjoy the girlie mode of "tour", the pretend I have something when I dial in "performance" mode

Phil,
Count me in if you find this. BTW, FAST90/LS2 T on the way.

Once I dropped it off at ECS to do the clutch or gears. Marc takes off the rear wheel and it is obvious that I ran over crap and road kill. It was nasty in there. I just laughed and walked away.....
