Default Dissabling canadian nightime running lights

All corvettes in Canada have a photo resistor that makes the headlights automatically go on when it starts to get dark. Is there a way to dissable it. I shined a flashlight on the dashboard defrost grill where the photo resistor is and the lights went out. So now i at least know where it is. If anybody knows how to do this, then i would really appreciate it.......thanks

A dealer can reprogram it for you with a "Tech II".

Have them go into options and change "RPO Z49" from yes to no.

DIC will then function like US cars whereby in the options menu you select "twilight on" and push "reset" to turn the damn thing off!!

Takes less than 15 min and a nominal charge.

Other people have replaced the sensor in the dash with a resistor but then you don't have the ability to turn it back on/off with the DIC.

Default Live with it--

My C5 is also a Canadian delivered model. I asked my dealer in the Seattle area to disable the feature. They are prohibited by law (at least in Washington state..perhaps since they are just across the border).to disable the function.
I just decided to view it as a benefit and now I don't have to ever worry that I take off in the evening and forget to turn my lights on. Just means that the occasional tunnel trip will 'enable' this same benefit.

I just figure I'm safer. Bigger things to worry about.

I asked the dealership to dissable it, but they told me that they couldn't do it for legal purposes. So i then went to radioshack and bought 1/4 watt 100 ohm resistors and put 1 on. It works so far. Thanks for the help guys. This is a great forum for help. Much better than paying $95.00/hour labour at the dealership.
