Default C5 Wheels on a C3???

Gents,
I have a set of factory 2001 Polished 5-Stars I want to put on my 1980 L-82. So far I've been told 2.5" to 3" spacers but can't seam to get a definitive answer on these. Surely someone has done this already. If so and you know the exact spacing I'd be extatic to hear it. I really want to put these on and I don't have the time to take the shot-gun approach.
Anyone know?
Thank you all very much!

You have the wheels. Check the offset difference and do some simple calculations to find out the inner and the outer edges sit at. This way you can determine the needed spacer thickness. As far as tires, find ones that will match the original OD. Use the tire manufacturer specs for this.

Sorry I can't give you a proven answer for this. It's a minor problem. If you don't want to go through the hassle, check VBP, see if they have a ready-made solution.

Hey Wah,
Yeah, the issue is I don't have the luxery of measuring. I'm a military guy and I'll get like two or three days back in Texas to put these wheels on and test drive it. I went to VBP first and they won't commit to a size. I talked to their specialist and he told me it will take 2.5" to 3" but that I would have to order them and do a trial by fire. But like I said, I just don't have that option. I'm thinking someone has to have already done this. Rest assured, once I find out the answer I'll surely advertise it out there. I think those wheels will look fantastic on the C3. Anyway, thank you for the advice. I appreciate the effort.
Peace!

Default May have what I need...

Hello Everyone!

I got a response from a manufacturer that's producing these as I type. I'm told this application will require 2.25" spacers. I'll update everyone when I get them and do a trial by fire.

Thanks Again!

That is a pretty gigantic spacer! Doesn't sound very safe and sounds like its going to give you balance issues.

I don't mean to sound ignorant, but I am. ;-) What's the difference between a spacer and a wheel that has that little of backspacing; such as the factory rims?
Thanks!

spacer fits between rim and hub, backsapce is built into rim. You put a ot of stress on the studs if you need em that long.

they would look good on c3 though

I'd sure appreciate a picture and your experience when you are done! I have a spare set of polished aluminum wheels also and might consider putting them on my '68 with some run flats!
