Default Bottom half oil pan replacement

I have a crack on my oil pan ('00 C5/6 speed)and need to replace it. I searched the achives and can't find a clear answer so i'll ask a question that I'm sure has been asked before. Can I remove the lower (bottom half) of the oil pan fairly easy. It looks like there is room to remove the bolts and it will come right off. Anyone done this? Dealers want about half the price of a new crate engine to do this...thanks

No problem, drain the oil first. I do this all the time to inspect for debris and to clean the sump screen. The gasket is reusable.
