Default Need help - Dash lights

OK, here's the deal friends: I've been running a boost gauge on my 01 for a couple years now, I tied the gauge light into the line that drives the console lights, cause then the gauge light comes on with the console lights and the console light dimmer also dims the gauge. All is well, therefore I can't leave it alone enough . - - So then I just decided to add another gage to the car, so being kinda cleaver, I simply added the new gauge light to the same line as the old gage (running in parallel), thinking, "it's just another bulb" - Of course that didn’t exactly work... It seems that in a conspiracy against me, Chevy has put in some sort of safety circuitry in that shuts down the entire circuit if it detects too much load . Apparently the new bulb has exceeded that load limit; the gauge and the console lights come on for about 1 second then they all shut down, disconnecting one of the gauge bulbs allows it all to work again.

Somebody must have run into this before... Are there any suggestions? Will wiring the bulbs in series buy me anything? Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.
