Well, many of you who know me, realize I have been on the other side of the pond, in the sand box, again... Sara and I have been back on R n R, got married in MO, and the car got some new mods @ Carolina Auto Masters, and Jeff Creech.

New mods are a OZZ700 clutch, with DTE brace, and hardened output shafts, both sides. Love the clutch!!! I didn't realize how bad my OEM was untill tonight at the track and I cut my 1st 1.5 60' but more later on that...

Jeff also installed a 224 227 114 (see sig for cam specs) cam and we went with big dual comp springs, retainers ect... He also installed an ASP underive pulley, and a Shaner TB while we where at it, and an electric water pump (and yes it does idle 10 degrees cooler and it looks great). I wanted more sound too so we swapped out stingers for quad bullets and they sound

Jeff worked his LS1 magic and we settled on 398 RWHP and 391 RWT. The car gained 23 hp and 24 ft lbs through the range. There are a few things that kept us a few HP low IMO, like my 6 month old gas, and the muggy NC conditions yesterday, plus this blower cam is not peakey NA. Here is the graph:

I could not be happier as the car feals great, sounds better than I thought it ever could and I can still lug it around off idle all day. The clutch was a bit quick and grabby at first, but after 7 runs at the track tonight, it is smooth, but still very quick, and just a tiny bit firmer than OEM. Now to the track!!!

We where having an all nighter at Fayetteville tonight, so I got there early and ran as much as I dared before the crowds got too bad and we left. First off I was very rusty, and not being very good to begin with, I had some issues. The track had good prep and the wheather was OK, low 70 with some humidity, and not sure about the DA.

The car did 1.6s all night on MT ET St radials, even when bogged with 5k and me trying to learn the new clutch and its lower release point. I got a 1.5 on my 2nd pass too, which I was very amped about in a 342 car! I was braket racing all night @ 11.5s buit could not put together a good launch with a good top of the track. I was shifting 68 which put the next gear right @ peak HP, well trying to at least.

New best (2 runs ) is 11.50 @ 120.5 w/ 1.67 60, 1/8 et 7.40 @ 94.7. The car fealt great, and I only wish I could have stayed on got one complete run in as the car has an 11.3 in it, as I was .01 out of the 11.4s. Too bad my CCWs had still not come in, but I gues I will be buying a set from John now @ CCW when I get back from durka durka stan.

Thanks again to jeff and his crew for doing such great work, and helping me out with all the issues I had, like my water pump missing the thermo stat, missing a vavlve seat, the clutch having an F body slave in the box, and my DTE brace shipping weeks late and being the wrong color... Durka durka and thanks!!!
Dave

Congrats man. When I get back and install my mods we will have to get together. I will have to get the car up to Jeff for a tune as well. Glad you are home.

Nice Meeting you at Jeff's shop the other day. Nice numbers. Jeff did a good tune on mine to a few weeks back. Good Times at the track too. I still want to go give mine a run sometime in Fayetteville. See you around the area.

Ed,
Hell yes great seeing you @ CAM. I am very happy with the times and the car pulls realy hard from idle. The clutch is very smooth now and I am very happy. Hope to see you soon in Fayetteville, but Sara and I fly back to Iraq tomorrow AM, and I am off right now to put the car back in storage See you soon brother!
