I have a 2000 a4 vert with 3.15 gears and want a little more acceleration potential. realistically what would be the best differential. I have heard o anything from 3.42 to 4.10 on similar verts. when is too much too much. I want a perfect balance between speed and acceleration. should i stay with the 3.15s. How big of a difference would a 3.42 set get me (~1200 dollars worth of difference). Finally how much is the reprogramming for the a4 computer.
The above posts are correct.
3.73 and a nice converter 2800 vigilante would be my choice.
My signature tells it all I have gone from 315 to 342 and now I am satisfied with the 373 and the vigilante.
I have the 3800 and it is great at the 1320 ft track but not for the faint of heart on the street .
I drive it in my 2000 c5 with no issues, the lockup converter makes it just about right ,and any converter streetable.
It might not be the best at a road course or scca event.
Smaller is better.
