Default GTech Pro SS, Worth getting????

Hey,
I was toying with the idea of getting a GTech Pro SS. Does anyone have one and are they worth It???
Or will it be just another novelty Item. They also make a more expensive RR version.
Any input would be cool

Cool toy can use as data for shift speed etc...., but my experience is it is not accurate for preformance but is consistant for base lining.

I bought a Gtech Pro Compatition and went to the web sit and downloaded the "RR" software update. Has all the functions of the RR except the light is a different color. I have used it a few times and it can be fun. If you are into lots of mods and like to see the results it is usful. The reason I got it was that it was killing me not knowing what my car was capable of in the 1/4. Now I have an idea even if it is not "dead on". I must admit that I have not used it since.

Actually, I guess my real question is......Is it something you can us on the street??????

If I am at the track I can test it for accuracy, but will I ever use it otherwise???

Or will it just get me in trouble, trying to get info on the street???

Do you use it often? i.e was it worth the 200 bucks? I have a raptor shift light already to install.

Use it a couple time a month or so. Whenever I get a hair to "push" the car. Was interesting to find out I could pick up about .4 in the 1/4 by power shifting! If you can afford it, it is a nice toy; or a tool to measure the effectiveness of a mod. I mount mine way up in the left upper corner of the window. Than way it does not show from the outside. I think they look kinda "Kmartish" when mounted with the suction cup.

I've had my RR model for about 6 months. It has some neat functions to play around with. If you can't get to the track, it will give you an idea of what your car is doing. I have always had consistent 1/4 times with it, variations of maybe < a tenth. Many people have said they are near dead on with what the track said they ran. It is mainly a toy to play with. The RR model has a lot more functions than the SS because of it's computer hook-up and program. If you can afford it I would get one. My model will work as a shift light also.

I liked G-tech Competition Pro ... Bought it used and it worked great for about a week. Shift light, RPM readings, .25 mi times. Even hooked it up to my buddies NSX and it work great but perfect results.

Then all of a sudden it gave me the blank screen of death. Did some research & called G-Tech and they wanted $100 minimum just to take a look at it. Who knows what it would have cost to replace a sensor in it.

I could buy a new one for just a little more $$ than that. It sits in the box now and works great as a paper weight.

Do you think that since you bought it used they did not fix it???
Wouldn't it come with some sort of warranty??
I agree that is lame, I just wonder why they wanted so much to fix it. I could see asking you to pay shipping, but they should be able to fix it easy.
Mabye since they don't make that one anymore they have no parts
