Thought I would paste this in the Tech section as well.

What should I get with $4G that would net me the best RWHP on a stock 2001 3:15 Z51 A4 (only mod is a Halltech Stinger). That amount would include all labor costs. (Thinking about LG LT, GHL quad Bullets (not for HP, but more for cooling the abs of steel version that Andy sells) and LS1 edit tune))
Andy is the primary tuner of choice....the only choice for me anyway.

brakes, suspenison, cooling, gears, heads and cam. If you track the cars, add safety equipment first.

N20 if that's your taste or do a cam and long tube headers.

tough call, being in cali, I assume you have tough smog inspections. And yes the labor will prolly eat most of your budget on cams etc. And you asked for highest rwhp. In that case NOS will gain the most hp.

But in an a4 the most significant mod is a higher stall converter. Get a yank around 3500 stall and 2.1 str. The car will drive like a total wild beast, and yet stay driveable around town!! It doesnt require tuning, change emissions or reduce mpg. Installed i'd guess $1500? after that I'd get all the bolt ons. A good verter will drop .5 in the qtr mile, which is like adding 50 hp (roughly). Maybe find a local ls1'er w a stall and go for a ride, you'll love it!

A convertor will require some tuning for the upshifts.

If you need the work done anyway...............IMHO I would go to Andy and ask him what he could he install for $4K
Good headers,TC/Gear/trans cooler would give you a BIG seat of the pants increase

Headers, Gears/Torque Converter and a Tune

That'll probably eat up much of your budget, but it'll give you something that'll sound good and push you back in the seat alot better.

DEFINITELY do the convertor if you do nothing else. I did a mild 3000 protorque and 3.73gears(from 3.15) and went from 13.13 to 12.79 on runflats.If I had stickies im sure i could run 12.5xs. Nothing else done to my car except a K&N stock replacement from stock.

it is a start. I can get everything I want after the deployment, though am hoping to win the S/C from Andys raffle, boy that would be awesome.
