Default Youre choice = headers or gears

Due to budget Need to choose beween LG`s or 3:73. What would you do? `98 A4, no other mods, has perf. axle now. Within a year and a half, would get the other one. Whats the best bang for the buck now. Thanks for your thoughts.

It all depends on what you are trying to get out of from a mod.

If you want to gain bit of HP and improve exhaust note, then LT headers.

If you want to better your track time get Gears...However, I would get Torque Converter instead of gears.

Gears/torque converter are easier to get through a smog check than L/T headers in California. Don't know about Colorado.

Gears, forget the converter unless your prepared to spend big $$$$$$$$$ on your A4. 47000 miles on my stock A4 w/3.42's and a Procharger. JMHO

If he drives a C5 A4 with a high stall as easy as you drive your procharged C5 A4, it'll last a long time too.

I would pick long tube headers over a gear for your situation.

I'd get the headers, they can increase your power to make up for the gears and increase your mpg's. The gears might give slightly better acceleration than headers but will definetely kill mpg's. Plus the headers will make you sound much better.

Gears and a high stall T/C are the best bang for the buck on an A4 hands down. If you can't do both do the T/C first. An A4 with a good high stall T/C will crush a car with just headers and the stock T/C & 3.15 gears.

Default Both

I would get the headers first as you have the 315 axle
I would get the gears and TC next
Mine is a vigilante 3800 (research,research,research,research,)
Don't bother with 342 unless you are going with some major boost
373 Really brightened it up.
Torque converters are like cams they have a big impact on you're drivibility .
Choose carefully ,my 3800 is fine for the street ,but I don't road race on a road course ,it would be poor for that .
Smaller in the 2800 range would be better for a road course
A 6 speed would be best
