Hay guys, I just replaced my headlight bulbs with the sylvania silver stars #9006 but now the fog lights look like crap next to them,
anybody know which bulbs to use in them?
Thanks

Sylvania 885's. They're 50 watters as opposed to the stock 35's. And don't forget to aim them. About 4 to 5 turns clockwise with a torx screwdriver. Makes a big difference.
Did you notice a big difference from the stock bulbs???
Was looking into the silverstars myself..but have a hard time justifing 65 bucks low and 65 bucks high....but if they are significantly brighter..I would...
I put the "high beam" silverstars in the low beam side (found info. from another post) and that helped out a ton! You can find the silverstars on sale or with rebates so they come out to around $32 a pair. I agree with C5Coup, the fog lamps are really dull compared to the silverstars. Are the 885's considered silverstars? or just regular bulbs?

I did the same thing last week. Very happy with results. Auto Zone had the 9006ST's for $36/pair.

The 885's are regular bulbs, BUT they are 50 watt instead of stock 37 watt, and they don't have a black out tip on them. They are a good match for the silverstars. Don't forget to re-aim them.
Did anyone ever try PIAA 9005's in the low beams?I put in 9005 Silverstars in my low beams (after modifying them), & they're pretty good, now I would never go back to 9006's again.FYI they make Silverstar fog lights in 2 different bulbs to fit the C5.Go Go White Sox!
PIAA 1100 fit in the existing fog lights, don't they?I was really interested to know if PIAA 9005s in the low beam socket was an improvement over Silverstars in the same set up.Anyone out there do it?

Do you get a lot of drivers flashing their lights at you?? How much farther can you see with this mod.
Have yet to have anyone flash their lights at me, have had the 9005s installed for around 2 weeks now. I'd say maybe it illuminates the road 10-20% further. Silvania does make silverstar fog lamp bulbs (not the same number as what the vette calls for), but they are stock wattage & are almost as much $ as the headlight bulbs, so I just bought 885s, rated at 55 watts (I think) but they still look yellow compared to the headlights...
Silverstar fog fog lights are: 880st=27.5 watts,893st=37.5watts ,same type of light as 9005 ss's'. I too did the 9005 mod in my C5 & 98 Camaro. No one to date hes "flashed" me in either car in the 2+ years I had them in.Congradulations White Sox,2005 AL Champs!
