Ok just a quick question . I have an 01 with factory radio and the reception is very weak . It has the antenna in the windshield or backwindow (Im not sure which) . Can I do anything to boost the signal, I did a search and read about people putting antennas in the back of car, but wasnt sure if they talking about the sirius radio or if they added a booster antenna and were they able to just plug it into the stock radio . Also if that doesnt work can I do an aftermarket radio and keep the 12 disc changer?
does your reception get worse if you put on the rear defogger? you have a antenna amp under the trim panel on the rear hatch.this is a common issue, not only on a vette, but with cars that use antenna grids.
if the answer to the defogger question is "yes",go straight to the amp, look for a bad connection/loose ground,if all is ok,most likely you have a bad amp.a easy test is ground yourself and touch the rear grids,if the reception changes, the problem is in the amp circuit
I had poor reception, couldn't figure it out until I took my radar detector off the windshield above the rear veiw mirror and put it on the dash board.Reception is better now Just thought I would throw that in.

If you have a coupe, then you have antenna grids in both the windshield and the rear window. Sometimes reception problems are caused by the particular station you are tuned to, surrounding terrain and/or buildings, and sometimes the time of day (day or night).
Threads related to installing antennas inside the rear bumper fascia are usually involving XM radio (or maybe their junior competitor Sirius ) antennas. Ever since I have istalled an XM unit I seldom, if ever, listen to regular FM any more. HTH
