I have noticed a hollow whistleing noise lately at around 2500 RPM from the engine bay. Its not loud...you have to have the windows up and radio off.
I do have the FAST and LS2 TB which some people say whistles....but this seems new since I installed the AMW can. Is it possible I am hearing noise from air flowing thru the can???
BTW: This can REALLY works. I was surprized to find about 3/16" of oil in the bottom of the can after about 800 miles. Mostly all freeway, no track....just the usuall heavy foot here and there. VERY glad I got it!!!

Are you running a Z06 style pcv set-up? Did you disconnect the vent hose that runs from the passenger side valve cover to the throttle body? Try this: with the motor running (and hopefully the whistle whistling), pull out the oil dipstick. If the whistle disappears, there is probably way too much vacuum in the crankcase. HTH

LoneStar:
I have a 2004 with the FAST intake and the LS2 throttle body.
My valve vent hose goes to the air bridge...infront of the TB and behind the MAF.
It was run for a couple of thousand miles with the passenger valve cover tube capped off. I hope this didn't cause any problems which are now showing up.
A little ways back I also had my FLP/TC put in. And then my differential rebuilt. I wonder if I am hearing an exhaust leak...what does that sound like??
The sound is not really evident at idle. But I will pop the hood and try the dip stick as you suggest.

You might also try uncapping the pass. side valve cover tube and drive it a little to see if that affects the sound/noise you heard. A little amount of driving with it uncapped won't hurt anything, but if you want you can loosely wrap a small rag around the opening to prevent any dirt/dust from getting in. Just make sure the rag is snug enough so that it doesn't come loose while you're driving and fall onto the moving belt/pulleys.
Exhaust leaks, especially near the engine will not usually sound like a whistle. They usually will have a raspy sound or clicking sound (if they're minor). HTH
Had same noise from mine...Drain valve wasn't fully closed.
Check the easy stuff first.........
You are right.
I found the noise this morning. It was sucking air from the drain valve. But I tightened it up and it didn't help. I bought it new but second hand from a forum member.....so maybe something is wrong with it.
Anyways I couldn't handle the loud sucking noise anymore and I siliconed it up.
I will call AMW and see if they can send my a replacement. Otherwize its no big deal to dismount it and open it up to drain.
Hey Howie, I was up at Andy's last Friday getting tuned and my catch can was also leaking or whistling, the petcock was also open, (don't know how that happend) I also pulled the two fittings on the can and put some teflon seal on them and tighten them both down and got another full tune out of each fitting, that seemed to cure the whistle.
